Remembering Captain Brandon Erickson

The Eagle Fire Department remembers Captain Brandon Erickson, a firefighter, paramedic, instructor, husband, father, and friend who left an impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Brandon’s calling to the fire service began in 1997 as a volunteer with the Star Fire Department. He went on to serve as a wildland firefighter, volunteer with both Star and Eagle, paramedic with Ada County, and firefighter/paramedic with Meridian Fire Department. In April 2013, he joined Eagle Fire as our EMS Training Captain.

Brandon was an exceptional instructor and a lifelong learner. He had a gift for teaching not just because of his knowledge, but because he genuinely cared about the people he taught. The lessons he shared with firefighters and paramedics continue to live on in those he trained.

But those who knew Brandon will remember more than his career.

They will remember the smile!

Brandon had a huge smile, a larger-than-life personality, and a contagious belly laugh. He loved to tease, joke around, and have a little fun. Yet beneath that big personality was a gentle giant with tremendous compassion, humility, and a genuine ability to make people feel valued.

Brandon loved his family, his faith, his community, and the fire service. He lived a life of giving and service, always willing to share his time, knowledge, strength, and kindness with others.

Brandon passed away on November 21, 2013, at just 36 years old, following complications from surgery related to an injury he suffered while serving with Meridian Fire.

Though Brandon's time at Eagle Fire was far too short, his impact was lasting. His legacy lives on in the firefighters and paramedics he trained, the communities he served, and the many people who still remember that unmistakable smile.

Brandon answered the call to serve, and he inspired others to do the same.

We remember him. We honor his service. And we will never forget him.
